Aurel Jakat "Our Lady of Revolution"

Aurel Jakat is the Grand General of her self founded army of freed slaves, former serfs, and other treadupon classes that have decided to take up arms against oppression. She has named her army “The Unchained”, in open opposition to slavery and oppression. Aurel’s reasons for starting a revolutionary army are both personal and religious.

She was born in the Satrapy of Sathem, a member state of The Confederated Satrapies of Hakrid, to a mid caste family of merchants. Aurel had the misfortune of being born a font touched, a being having come into contact with the Font energy from the gods in the womb. This resulted in both her skin and hair being completely white along with her eyes being black with white pupils. A font touched is automatically deemed part of the Outcaste, as dictated by the laws of both the Satrapy confederation, and the folkloric traditions of the mid and lower castes.

Being a part of the Outcaste, Aurel was thrust from her birth home by her parents into the arms of The Church of the Font of Liberation one of the few organizations an Outcaste was allowed in and the only religious one. She in fact never learned the names of her parents, nor had they named her. This duty fell upon the priestess that took her in. Aurel was the name of the Shield the Font of Liberation carried into battle, while Jakat was the name of the family that founded the church in Aurel’s town. All of the many children that are given to her church to raise are given this family name.

She was raised in the religious tradition and was being groomed to be part of the clergy, like most of the orphans. But the ways of the Hands of Liberation, an order of paladins dedicated to serve the Font of Liberation, appealed much more to her. She tired of the hands off approach the Church had for affairs relating to the will of the Goddess. She wanted to directly ensure that liberation for all was achieved.

But Aurel also Harbored resentment for the caste system and the legal slavery it allowed, not only was it an affront to the ways of her Lady, but had also resulted in intense prejudice against her and others in the Outcaste. She could no longer standby to the injustices that the Church allowed.

That is why she posed as a male inductee of the Hands during the final test to determine who was worthy to be a full paladin of the Hands. This ritual usually resulted in about 5 worthy individuals among approximately 100 inductees. The test was to see who was worthy of entrance into the order by activating a church relic, the blade of the founder of the Hands, St. Jakat. If they were worthy of wielding the Fonts energy, it would activate the hard light projectors in the blade, being powered by the latent font energy in the body aligned with the Goddess.

The only one to pass this ritual the year Aurel snuck in, was herself. When the church elders opposed allowing her into to the order, due to the fact she was not only a woman, but a woman in the Outcaste, she took the artifact from its chamber and made her way to the Hands armory taking the standard armor and sheild each hand received. She presented herself to the elders and declared that despite their personal prejudices, her Lady had deemed her worthy to weild her power. She then activated the hard light projectors in her armor, holy sword, and sheild. They could not deny that the Font of Liberation had indeed deemed her worthy.

She left the Church grounds, and thenthe town she was raised in. She was 20, and had already decided to go off and start her army.
